Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Turning Schedule (The James)

Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Turning Schedule (The James)

Intraperitoneal chemotherapy is a medicine used to treat cancer and is placed into your abdomen or belly. The medicine is put directly on the tumor or in other areas of your body that cancer may spread. The medicine stays in your abdomen until it absorbed by your body. Large amounts of chemotherapy medicine can be given safely using this method.

It is important to spread the medicine evenly throughout your abdomen after each treatment. You will need to change your position in bed every 15 minutes for 2 hours. Follow the schedule below when you get home after each treatment.

Your body will absorb the medicine in your abdomen over the next few days. During this time, you may feel bloated or full and feel pressure in your abdomen. Talk with your doctor or nurse about any side effects you have. Your doctor can order medicine to help with these problems.
