Infants: Lean the child forward about 30 degrees. You can do this by leaning back and holding the child steady against your chest. Repeat gentle clapping with a cupped hand between the spine and shoulder blade on each side of the upper back. Keep clapping for 3 to 5 minutes.

Toddlers and older: Have the child lean forward about 30 degrees against a pillow. Repeat gentle clapping with a cupped hand between the spine and shoulder blade on each side of the upper back. Clap for 3 to 5 minutes.
